[silent tears]
silent tears
dried by the open window
feet, toes freshly painted,
gliding through the open night
faster, slower,
his voice warbling through
muffled speakers
it isn't real
my tears litter the sidewalk,
face pressed against arm
pressed against the sill
of this open window
a sigh is lost
into the open night
city lights burn the horizon
through widespread fingers
grasping air
the smell of blackened chicken
and briny tunnel air as
fireflies twinkle in the distance
of an open life
my tears,
sliding down a cheek made
ruddy by the boiling sun
green and brown and blue eyes
blinking sleepy at the
brightness of your smile
